About Me
As a suburban kid with a mom from the city and a dad from the country I got a little bit of both worlds and came to love each one for different reasons.
After college I moved to Oregon, here I developed a deep love of the wild and as a social worker grew increasingly concerned about our relationship with the natural world and how that was reflected in our society. I dove deeply into the study of Ecology, Botany and later Herbalism. I wanted to understand how to deepen my own relationship with nature not realizing that I was slowly healing myself.
I met my husband Eric, had a wonderful herbal community and although I loved Oregon, I missed my family. Moving back to Pennsylvania was bittersweet. The herbal culture was not established here. The farmer's markets couldn't compare. And the concern for human impact on the environment wasn't mainstream as it was in Oregon. Eric and I decided we had to create the world in which we wanted to live. So, while I went to nursing school and started with my first clinical experiences in healthcare with a goal to change the way it's practiced, Eric started looking for land to farm.
I continued my studies in Herbalism now that I had nursing skills under my belt - as I was learning how to farm vegetables, herbs and flowers. Eventually my love of herbs took over the production at the farm and here we are. As we enter our 19th season, my favorite thing to do is to share this love and all that I've learned with you.
